Many children have gas, a small appetite or an upset tummy from time to time. These gentle habits can help.
Habits that support a child’s digestion
- Offer regular meals and healthy snacks at similar times each day.
- Include fibre from fruit, vegetables and whole grains, and plenty of water.
- Avoid forcing food, and limit sugary drinks and packaged snacks.
- Encourage play and movement every day.
Using supplements with children
Any product for a child should be used only as directed on the label and after asking your paediatrician. Never give a child an adult product.
When to see a doctor
Please see a doctor if you notice:
- Repeated vomiting, or blood in the stool.
- Severe or lasting stomach pain.
- Fever, dehydration or poor weight gain.
- Any concern about a baby or toddler.
