Good sleep supports mood, focus and energy. These evening habits are simple to try.
A calm evening routine
- Keep fixed sleep and wake times, even on weekends.
- Eat a light dinner early, at least two hours before bed.
- Switch off phones and screens about an hour before sleep.
- Try a warm shower, gentle stretching or slow breathing.
- Keep the bedroom dark, cool and quiet.
Ayurveda and sleep
Ayurveda stresses regular routines, called dinacharya. Warm milk and a gentle foot massage are traditional evening habits. They are comforts, not treatments.
When to see a doctor
Please see a doctor if you notice:
- Trouble sleeping for more than a few weeks.
- Loud snoring with pauses in breathing.
- Heavy daytime sleepiness or low mood.
