Knowing what to look for on a label helps you choose safely. Use this checklist before you buy.
What to check on the label
- Ingredients: the herbs and their quantities should be listed.
- Manufacturer licence: look for a valid manufacturing licence number.
- Batch number, manufacturing and expiry dates.
- Directions and precautions: who should avoid it, and how to use it.
- Seal and packaging: avoid products with a broken seal.
Be careful with big promises
Be cautious about any product that promises to cure a disease or guarantees fast results. If you are pregnant, have a long-term condition or take other medicines, ask your doctor first.
